Social Action for Upliftment of Humanity and Realization of Democracy (SAUHARD)

मानवता के उत्थान और लोकतंत्र की प्राप्ति के लिए सामाजिक कार्याक्रिया (सौहार्द)

Project Summary:

Realizing rights and entitlements in a democracy requires a governance framework to ensure authentic democratic practice. The SAUHARD Fellowship supports grassroots activists and social change-makers in the areas of governance, social harmony, participatory democracy, accountability, and empowerment of marginalized communities within a constitutional framework. This program fosters cross-learning, experience sharing, and collective action for transformation.

Grameen Vikas Sansthan believes in mobilizing, educating, and sharing correct information with communities, enabling them to lead dignified lives free from injustice, vulnerability, and marginalization. From a constitutional values perspective, the region faces numerous challenges to inclusive development, including caste discrimination, gender inequality, religious bigotry, economic disparity, and electoral manipulation. These issues hinder equitable development and require immediate attention.

Goal: To strengthen constitutional values and promote a constitutional culture by mobilizing social change-makers to establish a society founded on justice, liberty, equality, fraternity, solidarity, and social justice.

Key Activities:

  1. Identification of Change-Makers: Select vibrant individuals with the potential to challenge societal norms and engage them as fellows to create supportive environments for constitutional values.
  2. Capacity Building: Regular mentoring and skill enhancement of fellows through cross-learning, shared study materials, and community engagement.
  3. Community Platforms: Build strong community platforms by involving fellows with diverse social groups.
  4. Strengthening Entitlements Access: Collaborate with local governance to make schemes and services accessible to eligible beneficiaries, aligning efforts with constitutional values.
  5. Promoting Governance and Accountability: Encourage creativity, commitment, and independence among fellows to ensure local self-governance, accountability, and participatory democracy.
  6. IEC Development: Create information, education, and communication (IEC) materials to raise awareness about the gaps between constitutional principles and practical governance.
