Gramin Vikas Sansthan Partners with Educate Girls US for Girls' Education
We are proud to announce that Gramin Vikas Sansthan (GVS) has become a partner organization of Educate Girls US from April 2025 under an FCRA-supported project in Ghazipur district, Uttar Pradesh. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in our journey to empower adolescent girls and ensure their right to education.
The partnership is part of the Maitri Project, aimed at identifying and enrolling 2050 out-of-school girls (OOSG)—including dropouts and those who have never attended school—across Barachawar and Kasimabad blocks of Ghazipur district. With the support of Educate Girls US, GVS will implement targeted interventions over an 18-month pilot phase, focusing on both enrolment and retention of girls in schools.
Key highlights of the project include:
- Identification of 8000 OOSGs through door-to-door surveys, school record verification, and community mapping.
- Enrolment of 2050 girls into nearby primary and upper primary schools, reversing dropouts and bridging learning gaps.
- Mobilization of 150 schools to actively support the re-enrolment drive.
- Community engagement activities such as back-to-school campaigns, Balika Manch (girls' collectives), parental counseling, and sensitization of School Management Committees.
- Capacity building of field staff and coordinators, ensuring quality outreach and monitoring.
This FCRA project not only strengthens access to education for marginalized girls but also contributes to addressing systemic barriers such as poverty, gender discrimination, early marriage, and lack of awareness.
Through this partnership, GVS reaffirms its commitment to working with global allies like Educate Girls US to bring meaningful change at the grassroots. Together, we envision a future where every girl in Uttar Pradesh in our intervened areas has the opportunity to learn, thrive, and lead a life of dignity.
