Skill development through Education
Empowering Young Women through Skills and Education
Introduction
In the journey toward creating a society that champions inclusivity and empowerment, particularly for marginalized communities, skill development plays a pivotal role. Recognizing this, Gramin Vikas Sansthan has established the Samarthya – Center for Skill Development in Bahadurganj Nagar Panchayat, Ghazipur district. This transformative initiative aims to empower young women, particularly from marginalized communities, including Dalits and minorities, by fostering employment opportunities and honing their skills.
This center is a beacon of hope for over 300 young women annually, helping them gain the skills, knowledge, and confidence required to lead independent and dignified lives. By focusing on creating socio-economic progress and inclusivity within the region, the initiative bridges the gap between marginalized communities and mainstream opportunities, promoting sustainable development.
Objectives of Samarthya

- Promoting Social Inclusion: By targeting marginalized groups, especially Dalits and minorities, the initiative strives to reduce the socio-economic disparity prevalent in the region.
- Building Capacity: It focuses on enhancing the skills of participants through modern educational tools, technology, and guidance.
- Encouraging Independent Decision-Making: Equipping young women with soft skills and vocational training fosters self-reliance and confidence in their ability to contribute to society.
- Creating Role Models: By empowering individuals, the center also inspires others within the community to follow a similar path of growth and transformation.

Women trained at the center are encouraged to enter the workforce, bringing about a significant shift in gender roles and stereotypes in the region.

Limited Resources
The need for advanced infrastructure and tools is a constant challenge.
Solution: Partnerships with government bodies and NGOs to pool resources.
Retention of Participants
Due to family responsibilities or societal pressures, many women drop out mid-program.
